"Hat's Off" to Octobers Sunday Dinner!

Life gets busy and everyone doesn't make it to dinner. But what I always love is that the right people, for that particular moment in time, walk through the door. Perhaps even toting a pumpkin (thanks Cindy!) and their hugs never fail to melt me.

Octobers Sunday Dinner was spent with some special gals in our life wearing hats! For those who chose not to show up with a hat  (which was not an option :) lucky for them I had extras in my closet! Was that a bit pushy? :)

Cindy,Gloria,Susan and Genea!

We also chose a Gluten Free menu, as 3 of us are on the lovely path of "Going Gluten Free" Has been fun experimenting with different foods in order to make everything taste , for lack of unique words,"not like cardboard" The menu of the night was:

*Barbequed chicken breasts with pineapple salsa.
*fingerling potatos in melted butter
*Mango slices
*spinich salad with mushrooms, crumbled blue cheese, dried cranberries & roasted soy nuts
*Dessert: apple/cranberry crisp (I am thinking this needs a little tweaking in the rice flour department...a bit "cardboardish" But hey! I am trying and thankful for friends who will let us practice on their palletes ;)

Jaime!
Jaime was amazing, spending time with a room full of chattering women! Hearing the latest updates; new romances, yoga (even a little demo, thanks Genea! hmmm...should have taken a picture.) as he barbequed up the delicious chicken.

I may just keep him around awhile longer. At one point our 17 year old son Jordan even joined us. Brave; just like dad. Enough said!

Once again, old friends meeting new friends. I'll never tire of that!

Cindy!

Our night ended so beautifully with our dear friend Gloria, in her 70's, our last guest of the evening. We chattered on about God, grace and the simplicity of just being real. So thankful to have her inspiration and enthusiasm for life burning bright in our corner of the world!

Gloria

Genea
Each of the women that spent Sunday Dinner with us hold a special place in our hearts. Individually, looking around the table, I couldn't help but think of what we have all been though together. I saw each of us standing now on the same road. Different bends, perhaps even miles apart, but all at a crossroad where we are being met and accepted, encouraged, and yes even challenged; because thats what true friends do,right? The journey with each of you through the years has enriched our lives for sure.
